Advanced WPC Laboratory.
The Evolution of Composite Wood

Let's go beyond the limits of natural wood

The composite woods from Advanced WPC by Woodn Greenwood surpass the limitations of natural wood to inspire increasingly innovative and less environmentally impactful construction. Two revolutionary formulas, the fruit of twenty years of experience and the high specialization of our Research & Development departments, which blend two different types of recyclable polymers with FSC® certified conifer wood flour, all of Italian origin and obtained from scraps of other manufacturing processes. This is how a new, advanced, and durable material comes to life, capable of offering building construction high-functionality technical performance, while countering global deforestation.

Advanced WPC is a lightweight yet strong material, with a refined and elegant bearing. The right balance between wood and polymer, which is the basis of the products, makes them highly resistant to water, to attack by fungi and parasites, and to atmospheric agents, therefore they are usable in any weather condition and at all latitudes, even in marine environment. UV exposure does not alter the color, which remains stable over time without requiring surface treatments. Woodn and Greenwood, due to their different natures resulting from their composition, differ in their colors and chromatic rendering, but they can be perfectly combined to allow the ultimate customization for the designer.

Advanced WPC WOODN
based on recyclable PVC polymers

Advanced WPC WOODN is an original composite wood, a unique species in the international landscape.

The blend is composed of a predominant part of PVC, a thermoplastic polymer that protects surfaces and is the only one classifiable for fire resistance. The result is a lightweight, renewable, and moldable technical material for custom profiles.

The advantages of PVC in the construction industry

  • It's versatile and lends itself to a wide range of applications.
  • It is liquid-proof and 100% recyclable.
  • Thanks to its composition and mechanical properties, PVC is the most suitable polymer for outdoor applications exposed to UV rays or atmospheric agents.
  • It is safe and inert, fire-resistant, virtually non-flammable, self-extinguishing, and does not contribute to flame propagation.

Designed for decking

Advanced WPC GREENWOOD is a technical wood with a complementary concept to Advanced WPC Woodn.

In fact, it is composed of 60% wood flour and 40% plastic, specifically polypropylene. This particular polymer component guarantees certified performance in terms of dimensional and color stability, making it the ideal material for flooring applications. The higher percentage of coniferous wood fiber, on the other hand, enhances the grain pattern in the material, making the planks’ touch and feel more similar to that of real wood.

Woodn Greenwood designs and manufactures both its raw material, Advanced WPC, and its profiles in-house using an extrusion process. The on-site 100% production cycle allows for complete design customization and enables the company to transform all waste into new raw material.

The key factors in composite wood production are essentially 3

Research, selection, and procurement of raw materials

The R&D department selects all the raw materials used in the production process from Italian and European suppliers, such as polymers, wood fibers, and particularly additives. This is a process that is constantly being improved, from which all products that will be installed worldwide in any climatic condition will take shape.

Full control of the formulation

As manufacturers specializing in the production of this material, we create our own formulas internally, understanding their limitations and potential. This allows us to provide multi-year warranties on all our systems, ensuring the safety and long-term durability of the finished product.

Experience and expertise in extrusion

We control all phases and parameters of the extrusion internally.

Once the selection of raw materials and the formula have been tested and approved, several factors are involved in the actual production process:

  • Granulation and moisture content measurement of the material.
  • The homogeneous coupling of all components and additives.
  • The temperature and melting dynamics of polymers.
  • Profile calibration and continuous monitoring of physical, mechanical, and aesthetic parameters.
  • Extrusion speed and output.
  • The custom inline cut.

EXTRUSION PROCESS

Industrial extrusion through more than 50 different molds and 9 dedicated lines powered by a photovoltaic field. A closed-loop cooling system that recycles water.

QUALITY CONTROL

Hourly quality control, visual inspection, and software-based checks. Manual brushing and finishing. Custom work with CNC machines.

LOGISTICS SERVICE

Custom packaging based on the type of transportation and national door-to-door logistics management via truck or overseas with containers via ship or air.
